Dispels many audio related myths like being able to discern a 24 bit recording from a 16 bit recording or whether that $500 sound interface will do the trick over the $3000 interface. Much of it is based upon common human behavioral patterns. For instance, our brain will play tricks on us and we automatically believe that the $80 monster cable sounds better than the $30 Guitar Center cable. There is no scientific data to support that.
(Special note: There is value to well-made audio cables (although hardly to the levels marketing (or your uncle) would have you believe). On the other hand, for digital cables, there is hardly any value added for the $100 HDMI cable for your new TV at Best Buy over the $20 cable you can get on Amazon. It’s just an issue of whether the 1s and 0s will get from point A to point B.)
